Academic clubs and societies tend to have a basis and rooting with one of the departments at Point Loma.These clubs allow for students to have a deeper engagement with what they are learning in a fun and new way that they may not get to experience in the classroom. Additionally, students can further their career exploration through different avenues within their clubs.

CALIFORNIA NURSING STUDENTS ASSOCIATION POINT LOMA CHAPTER

CNSA is a club that exists to create unity, community, and support throughout PLNUs nursing program. This semester we will have both academic meetings- helping students with logistics of nursing school-and fun activities that give students a place to relax and connect with others. Join our mentorship program where you will be individually paired with an upperclassman who can serve as a study buddy, helping hand, and friend as we learn and grow in nursing together!

DELTA ALPHA PI

Delta Alpha Pi is a club and honor society on campus to spread positive awareness on the negative stigma of “disability” and “mental health”. We serve as advocates of this community, and create a safe space for students of all abilities on campus. To become a part of the honor society students must be enrolled in the EAC (Educational Access Center) have over a 3.01 GPA and attend frequent meetings.

FINANCE & INVESTMENT SOCIETY

Finance and Investment Society serves to help students gain a better understanding of personal finance, finance as a career, and investing. Throughout the semester, we invite guest speakers to share about their experiences in finance, talk about personal finance, and to give insight into what they do in their roles as a finance professional. The club also manages a donor's retirement account that is valued around $25,000, which we use as a tool to help members learn how to research a stock and ultimately make a decision on whether to buy, sell, or hold a stock.

FRENCH CLUB

French Club is a warm and inviting place for students from all backgrounds, walks of life, and interests to come together to learn about and embrace the language and cultures of the Francophone (French-speaking) world.

Launch Point Entrepreneurship Club is a community of faith based student entrepreneurs here at Point Loma Nazarene University. We typically meet twice a month on Tuesday's from 5-6pm. One meeting of the month is geared towards growing our network of connections so we will bring in a guest speaker from our community to talk about their entrepreneurial ventures. During this meeting we typically provide dinner which a lot of other students appreciate. The other meeting of the month is where we go into the community and tour a startup or local business to grow our understanding of how businesses operate.

This year we will start an instagram page to keep connected and keep up with students, alumni, and even our Marketing Advisory Board (MAB). MAB is a group of almost 30 professionals in the business world that help create an awesome program for marketing students. They help students network and even hire some as interns!

MICROFINANCE CLUB

Microfinance is a crucial factor in poverty alleviation. This club gives practical ways to incorporate many aspects of business to create practical poverty alleviation solutions. We will be having discussions with professionals in the local Microfinance community about its impact here and internationally. The Point Loma Pre-Health Student Association is committed to supported pre-health students at PLNU, including those interested in medicine (MD or DO), pharmacy, dentistry, optometry, public health, or veterinary medicine. We provide opportunities for students to explore the health field, network with healthcare professionals, and get hands-on volunteering experience through our local and international outreach events. Our mentorship programs connect students with experienced upperclassmen and alumni so they have personal guidance throughout their undergraduate journey. Although many of our activities will look a little different this year, we are still excited to engage students in an online environment and provide resources to get involved! The PLNU Management and Leadership Club provides a way to network with successful leaders in business. Focusing on the academic discipline of management and leadership in the midsts of a global pandemic, we are currently in a Zoom series entitled "Current Examples of Leadership." A key part of leadership is ministry so we are also developing a way to support those in need during this time. This club is a way to seek community even though we are living remotely; you will want to be apart of this club! SDA is a great club for those who are interested in learning about healthy eating habits and how the food industry plays a role in our diets. During the remote learning experience, we plan to watch documentaries about food and diet and engage in discussions to better educate ourselves on the truths and lies shown out there. As part of our goal, the club often offers opportunities to network with other dietitians and nutritionists.

The PLNU SVA chapter works to build a community among student veterans, military affiliated, and non-military affiliated students. Our chapter, along with 1,500 additional ones serving in all 50 states, is part of a national network dedicated to providing students with support, resources, and tools that are essential in empowering them towards higher education and professional development.
