DEBT, THE GOOD AND THE BAD

Most people when they think about debt, they think BAD. That simply is not true. There is also good debt. Often, there are large figures like Dave Ramsey who say that all debt is bad and that it is best to pay it off as soon as possible. Yes, that is true for bad debt but not necessarily bad debt. Good Debt are debts that are required like mortgages for a home. You can also argue that higher education debt is good because you can eventually pay it off with the money you earn from employment thanks to your college degree. Bad debts are like credit cards. Credit cards DO NOT give free money. They are what I call ‘mini-loan generators’. Now, credit cards are not bad if you pay it off as soon as possible but if you just let it sit and allow the interest to continue to exponentially compound it can be categorized as bad debt.
